Can be accelerated with Newer Technology's Eddy Award winning "PowerClip 604‚Ñ¢", part # 7MC604-B. The PowerClip has over 100 different speed settings which allow the PowerMac 8500 to be set at speeds of up to 165MHz. Typically the 8500/120 will be set to something between 150MHz and 164MHz. The PowerClip is slotless and therefore leaves all slots open. It is important to note that some Apple 256K Cache DIMMs will prevent the PowerClip 604 from accelerating the 8500/120 beyond 130MHz. There are three solutions to this problem. The first, and least desirable, solution is to return the PowerClip. The second solution is to remove the Apple Cache DIMM and simply run the computer without it. The third, and most desirable, solution is to purchase a Newer Technology high-speed 256K Cache DIMM, part # 7CC256B.
Eight DIMM sockets. Upgraded with one DIMM at a time.
Ships with a minimum of 16MB (two 8MB, or one 16MB DIMM) of RAM installed.
Requires 70ns, or faster, memory.
Can interleave memory for approximately 10-30% faster RAM access. For the fastest speed, sockets A1 & B1, A2 & B2...A4 & B4 should contain identical capacity DIMMs.
This computer comes with 4096K ROMs and an Apple 1.44MB SuperDrive that uses high-density floppy disks and reads, writes, and formats Macintosh, Windows, MS-DOS, OS/2, and ProDOS disks.
Serial Port with the phone icon supports synchronous modems, with handshaking on both output and input supported.
Sound output is 16-bit stereo output.
This computer has an international power supply
Line voltage: 100 to 240 volts AC, RMS single phase, automatically configured
Frequency: 50 to 60 Hz, single phase
